Madam Malkin’s Robes For All Occasions is a shop in Diagon Alley that in the books sells robes, traveling cloaks, and school robes.
Just when the reality has set in that you are going to go and actually walk through Diagon Alley, that place that you have dreamed about since 1997, you also learn that you can walk through Madam Malkin’s just as the gold trio had!
Book Fact: If you have only seen the movies you may not know much about Madam Malkin’s Robes For All Occasions, but die hard Harry Potter fans remember that this is also where Harry Potter first meets Draco Malfoy.
You’re a wizard, (insert your name here). All new witches and wizards attending Hogwarts need school robes! Madam Malkin’s has robes representing all Hogwarts houses, Griffyndor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff. Youth sizes and adult sizes are available. Hogwarts robes adult sizes available are XS – XXL.
Hogwarts robes are like the cherry on top of the Wizarding World experience. They are not necessary for a magical time, but what better way to jump into the Wizarding World? They won’t come cheap, however. Youth sizes start at $115, and adult sizes run $145.
Looking for an extra touch? You can get your robes personalized with embroidery at Madam Malkin’s!
In addition to house robes, you can show your house pride with all types of merchandise to represent your Hogwarts House! You will find Loungefly, headbands, ties, scarves, scrunchies, notebooks, jewelry, coffee mugs, and so much more.
Note sure what house you belong in? The sorting hat is all tied up at the moment, so we recommend the Pottermore sorting quiz here (https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/the-sorting-hat ).
This sorting quiz was made by the author of Harry Potter herself, J.K. Rowling from her fan base website.
Madam Malkin’s is a dream come true for Harry Potter fans because you can see first hand what our favorite wizards experienced prior to their first trek to Hogwarts, you can represent your house colors, and you can see movie props and costumes from some of the most stylish characters in the films.
It doesn’t matter what side of the line you stand on, books versus movies, you can’t help but feel reverent standing within feet of Professor McGonagall’s robes. In addition to our favorite transfiguration professor, you will see Fleur Delacour Weasley’s wedding gown, Professor Snape’s gothic ensemble, and the snappiest lavender-loving Defense Against the Dark Arts professor robe’s, Gilderoy Lockhart. Be sure to walk around the whole store to see all of the small movie props around the shop!
You don’t have to be a fan of Harry Potter to appreciate the magic you will find through the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios. Perhaps the most fun part of Madam Malkin’s is the beautiful antique mirror. She’s no ordinary mirror. She is a judgy, chatty, frenemy mirror.
You may think you’re just fluffing your hair or choosing the right robe size, but really, she’s sizing you up. She may dish you a compliment, saying she likes your shirt or favors your style. Or… She will scold you on your sloppiness and tell you to tuck in your shirt!
