Food played a huge role in the Harry Potter series, and in the books we were introduced to tons of treats and candies in the Wizarding World.
Being that Harry Potter is written by a British author, many of the snacks and treats had British origins, making it so American children had no idea what these concoctions tasted like.
Part of the thrill of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios is that fans of Harry Potter can live out the things we had only read in books or saw in movies. Now you get to actually experience them, not just imagine them!
Food in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Quick Service

Both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade have one quick service style restaurant. In Diagon Alley you have The Leaky Cauldron, that’s in London.

In Hogsmeade you have the Three Broomsticks. These restaurants both have very British menus featuring things like Beef Pasties, Shepherd’s Pie, and Fish and Chips, though the Three Broomsticks features a few Scottish items as well. Hogwarts is in Scotland after all.

Anything Off The Trolley, Dears?
By and large, the most fun items to try from the books and movies are the sweets and treats!
Harry Potter was written to have a huge sweet tooth, with his favorite dessert being Treacle Tart. Now, you won’t find that in Universal Studios, but we have had Treacle… It’s gross, like burnt molasses. We’re actually pretty thankful that you can’t get it in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter because then we would feel compelled to eat it. Just… no.
Sugarplums
Sugarplums is a candy store that is connected to Quality Quidditch Supplies in Diagon Alley, just as you enter from London. They have all sorts of candies, treats, keepsakes, and a small bakery case.
Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes
See what Fred and George, oops, just George, (R.I.P. Fred), has been up to at their shop of hijinx. Designed just like the store in the movie The Half Blood Prince, Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes is bright colored, fun, and a true sight to see. This is the only location where you can buy your candy Love Potion, Skiving Snackboxes, Puking Pasties, Nosebleed Nougat, and more.
You can also purchase tons of Weasley Wizarding Wheezes merchandise, and let’s not forget about Pygmy Puffs. Their shop became famous for the adorable pink and purple creatures, even selling one to Ginny that she named Arnold. You can not only adopt a Pygmy Puff, but you can even get Pygmy Puff merchandise like slippers, robes, pajamas, shirts, sweatshirts, toys, bags, and more!
Honeydukes
Honeydukes was the infamous candy shop in Hogsmeade that Hogwarts students would flock to to spend all of their cash. It was also the basement of Honeydukes that Harry found the secret tunnel into the castle, thanks to Fred and George and their Marauder’s Map in the Prisoner of Azkaban.
This candy shop is larger and features more options, and an equally larger bakery case to live out your Harry Potter dreams.
