In the Harry Potter series, Death Eaters are followers of Lord Voldemort, the main antagonist of the story. They are wizards and witches who have pledged their loyalty to Voldemort and are dedicated to furthering his goals of establishing a pure-blooded wizarding society and subjugating non-magical people (Muggles) and Muggle-born witches and wizards.

The Death Eaters are notorious for their violent and cruel acts, such as torture, murder, and the use of the Unforgivable Curses, which are illegal and carry a life sentence in Azkaban prison. They are considered the most dangerous and feared group in the wizarding world.

One of the most recognizable symbols of the Death Eaters is the Dark Mark, a skull with a snake protruding from its mouth. It is burned into the skin of Death Eaters with a wand, using a spell that causes intense pain. When Voldemort or one of his followers summons the Death Eaters, the Dark Mark appears in the sky, indicating their presence.
