Universal Studios has a reputation for thrill rides, big drops, and fast coasters!
This theme park may be considered a competitor to Disney, but Universal Studios is NOTHING like Disney when it comes to rides!
The roller coasters are bigger, taller, faster… more of everything!
NOTE: All of the rides listed require guests to put ALL belongings in provided lockers at the attraction. Just to be safe, the Incredible Hulk Coaster, Rip Ride Rockit and the Velocicoaster require riders to pass through metal detectors to be sure that nothing will pose a safety risk. The ride lockers are free, but space is VERY LIMITED. Think about bringing only a fanny pack for a drawstring backpack.
Unless you have the Express Pass to skip all of the lines, you’re going to have to prioritize rides. Read below for a complete list of roller coasters in both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure –
1. Velocicoaster
Let’s start off our list with Universal Studios Orlando’s newest and most intense coaster: The Velocicoaster. This coaster is themed after the newer Jurassic Park movie and is located in the Jurassic Park area in Islands of adventure. You’re just an innocent visitor of the parks when oh no! The velociraptors broke out! Don’t get eaten!
This is an INTENSE coaster! Velocicoaster has a high peak of 155 feet high and reaches speeds up to 70 mph! Riders must be 51” in order to ride Velocicoaster.
2. Rip Ride Rockit
Rip Ride Rockit lets you customize the type of experience that you want by selecting the music to have playing in your headrest for your ride. Rock on!
PRO-TIP: There is a secret playlist where you can listen to the Muppets or Reading Rainbow by following these directions:
Pull down on the lap bar.
Hold the logo button down for 10 seconds.
Select a song from the new menu that appears!
This coaster starts off strong with a 90 degree climb to a massive drop. It reaches 65 mph and has a height requirement of 51”.
3. The Incredible Hulk Coaster
You can see the Hulk green coaster before you even walk into Islands of Adventure! This huge hulking green monster is a beast of a coaster! The Incredible Hulk Coaster is so big, intense, and wild that it has the tallest height requirement in Universal Studios Orlando!
Reaching top speeds of 67 mph, the Incredible Hulk Coaster has a height requirement of 54”.
4. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
Though it has been open since 2019, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure continues to be one of the most popular attractions in all of Universal Studios! People line up from the time the park opens until close, waiting as long as 2 hours to ride.
We totally get it since you get a rare glimpse of a magical unicorn and her baby on the ride! The historic high for wait times was over 600 minutes! Y’all… That is more than 10 hours! That’s wild.
The top speed is 50 mph, but it feels much faster since you are in the open air on the motorbike! Despite the open concept of the ride vehicle, the height requirement is only 48”.
5. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
Universal Studios broke the mold of the traditional roller coaster when they created Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Not only is the queue a complete cinema replica of Gringotts from the film, but this roller coaster also includes 3D simulation screens. This attraction is a great blend of details from the movies/books and new additions to the story for guests to enjoy.
Even though the ride feels really fast, it is only going 25 mph! Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is a great coaster for newbies in addition to Harry Potter fans. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts has a height requirement of only 42”.
6. Revenge of the Mummy
The Mummy movies starring Brenden Fraser may have come out over 24 years ago, but guests are still loving Revenge of the Mummy in Universal Studios Orlando. Revenge of the Mummy blends story, horror, thrills, speed, and even fire for an amazing ride.
This indoor coaster goes a whopping 45 mph through the caverns of Egypt to escape the curse. This attraction has a height requirement of 48”.
